Yes, I have also been using Quicken on the Mac since the 1990s; after continuing to use home finance programs on my Apple //c for many years: Home Accountant and Time is Money. I did use Mac Money for a couple of years prior to Quicken. I actually purchased a 5-1/2' floppy version of Quicken for the Apple off of eBay just to have it in my library! I was very happy for years with Quicken Deluxe 2002 until the absence of Rosetta in Lion forced me to upgrade to the Intel version of Quicken 2007 in February, 2012.
I have been happily using this version since. In my opinion, Quicken 2015 is a fraudulently misleading upgrade of Quicken Essentials and certainly NOT an upgrade of Quicken 2007, as you have observed! Quicken 2016 is better than Q2015, which is not saying much, but still pales compared to Quicken 2007. It is my hope that the new purchaser of Quicken will release a Quicken 2017 that will be the real upgrade of Quicken 2007 that we deserve!
I have been using Quicken for the Mac from day one (some time in the 1990's). I bought Quicken Essentials in 2012 and I did not like it. Later that year Quicken came out with Quicken 2007 (Lion version) that would work with my system. Quicken 2007 was like the older versions of Quicken that I used. I bought Quicken 2015 (version 2.3.1). It looked like Quicken Essentials.
I have been currently getting email flyers from Quicken about their new version of Quicken. I tried to find out if it was like Essentials or Quicken 2007. People online suggested to see the YouTube videos online. It was the same as Essentials. (Version 16.2.3 is a lot bigger version number than 2.3.1??). It is my hope that the new purchaser of Quicken will release a Quicken 2017 that will be the real upgrade of Quicken 2007 that we deserve! I have an iMac G4 OS X 10.4 Tiger (pre-Intel) which I have kept primarily to run Quicken 2007 ('Q07'). I also have a MacBook Air with OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion on the internal drive and 10.11.6 El Capitan on an external drive, both bootable. I understand there is a version of Q07 that will run on my MacBook Air and I would love to know how to convert from my G4/Tiger version of Q07 (16.0) to the latest Q07 version (16.2.4).
I believe I must first update Q07 to the version compatible with Intel OS X Lion and then update that to the latest Q07 version to run in El Capitan. Where do I find these updates to Q07 and what are the steps, e.g., do I upgrade Q07 v.16.0 on my older G4 iMac or do I copy the application to my newer MacBook Air and update from there? Thank you in advance for any and all help. Thank you MichaelLAX.
I did and it does. For the benefit of others, Quicken does not make it easy to find or purchase this special Intel version of Quicken 2007 for Mac (aka. Lion Compatible). None of the direct links mentioned by others in previous posts work any longer. As stated above, you can only get this done by phone, as I did, or perhaps by chat as others have said.
If you registered your original purchase or have an account with Quicken from more recent purchases (e.g., Quicken Mac 2015 or 2016) it makes it a little easier. Otherwise they try to sell you on the latest version or the new one coming in 2017. The version I purchased was 16.2.4 which, I'm told, is the latest and probably last update.
I've only used it for a few hours but it looks and seems like the original application and it opened my old.qdfm data file without issue. Apple Footer.
